I had a phonecall with Director General.
the official Rwandees phonecompany Rwandatel is working on the
installation of an Internet server.
this is done in two steps
1 getting the satlines via MCI and AT&T
they are operational now and are for the moment used for voice to some
countries that were not connected automatically yet to Rwanda
2 set up the server and train the people for the maintenance.
Optimistic wishfull target date was beginning september, so we are
hoping now that it will be soon.
UNDP and UNICEF and some NGOs are running e-mail based on 3-5 times
per day link through phone with their headquarters, but this is
UN/NGO use only.
This is up to today information. When the server is up and running,
I'll let you know.

We continue to receive requests at the NSRC re: connectivity in Rwanda.
Have you made contact with Rwandatel about some information we could post
on our public web server re: the connectivity situation in RW ?
