From: Johan_Brusten_at_PO509A01@smtplink.unicef.org (Johan Brusten) To: sghuter@nsrc.org (Steven Huter) Date: Fri, 6 Sep 1996 15:12:33 -0400 Hi Steven, I had a phonecall with Director General. the official Rwandees phonecompany Rwandatel is working on the installation of an Internet server. this is done in two steps 1 getting the satlines via MCI and AT&T they are operational now and are for the moment used for voice to some countries that were not connected automatically yet to Rwanda 2 set up the server and train the people for the maintenance. Optimistic wishfull target date was beginning september, so we are hoping now that it will be soon. Other information: UNDP and UNICEF and some NGOs are running e-mail based on 3-5 times per day link through phone with their headquarters, but this is UN/NGO use only. This is up to today information. When the server is up and running, I'll let you know.
