Its BBS is NetNam using a propriatary software the WorldGroup manager from Galaticom Co. 1993, we started with uucp both domestically and internationally. >From 1996 TCP/IP has been introduced for internal use, while uucp is still being used for Internet link. SG>description of where you connect to the Internet Currently, dial-up is used. And as planned, in first half of 1997 a leased line of 64k to Internet will be available. Australia is one of the countries we want to link to. Our net is of two poles: Hanoi and Hochiminh city (ex Saigon). The main universities are connected to the nearer pole with leased lines of 64/128k or bundled PSTN hot lines (tipically 3*28.8k each link). SG>2) A brief technical description of the equipment/platform you are using SG>for your servers, routers, etc. The OS.s: SCO UNIX and Windows NT, Servers: mainly (parallel) Pentium based PCs, some are SUN sparc.s, Routers: Bay Networks, and some of CISCO, LAN: Ethernet and Fast Ethernet. The telecom cost, firstly the international one is the major issue of networking. We, as an academic body, has no way to improve it. Best wishes for 1997.
