General description of INTERCOM/EcuaneX: Intercom is a non-profit corporation associating 21 Ecuadorean institutions from the academic and NGO community. It provides e-mail, conferencing and networking services. It is committed to creating social dynamics as a means of contributing to the democratization of communication in the country. Rate structure: $US 15. inscription cost $US 10. monthly user cost (Includes 4 hour monthly connection) No charge for messages sent within the country. Messages sent to the exterior are charged at .25 cents/kbyte. Messages received from the exterior above and beyond those recieved are charged at .12 cents/kbyte. Reduced rates for monthly consumption greater than 500Kbyte. Additional connection time is charged at $US 5.00/hour 12.
