NSRC Personnel Activities Around the World
October 3-5: NSRC will teach a Campus Network Design & Operations (CNDO) Workshop to be hosted for 3 days at Universiti Sains Malaysia during PRAGMA 35.
October 15-18: José Dominguez of the NSRC will attend the Internet2 2018 Technology Exchange that will be held in Orlando, Florida, United States. NSRC sponsored Antonio Lobo to attend the conference.
October 15-19: Brian Candler and Patrick Okui of the NSRC along with Hellen Nakawungu, Brian Masiga of the Research and Education Network for Uganda (RENU), and Amos T. Nuwasiima of the Uganda Christian Univeristy (UCU-Mukono) will be the instructors of the Network Monitoring and Management Workshop that will be held in the Bugema University in Kampala, Uganda followed by a direct engineering assistance.
Completed Activities 2018
September 24 -28: Hervey Allen of the NSRC will present the keynote address during LACNIC 30 - LACNOG 2018, that will be held in Rosario, Argentina.
August 2-7: NSRC's personnel Hervey Allen and Hans Kuhn will be instructors of the PRF-FIONA Workshop that will be held in conjunction with the 2nd National Research Platform Workshop, where Hervey also gave a presentation about "FIONA Workshops Series: Results & Next Steps". Both events will take place in Bozeman, Montana, United States.
August 2-10: NSRC will teach workshops in IPv6 Deployment, Best Practices for Campus Network Design and Operations; a tutorial about Internet of Things and give a presentation on IPv4 Routing Table Update, during SANOG 32 & BbNOG 9 that will be held in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
July 9-20: NSRC staff, Hans Kuhn will attend IETF 102 to assist building the network for the event, that will take place in Montreal, Quebec.
June 10-14: Steve Huter, Dale Smith, and Phil Regnauld of the NSRC will attend the TNC18 Conference that will be held in Trondheim, Norway.
June 4-8: NSRC staff and friends Philip Smith, Jon Brewer, Mike Jager will be the instructors of two workshops during btNOG5, including the Network Design Workshop and the Wireless Network Design Workshop that will take place in Simtokha, Bhutan.
June 4-5: Hervey Allen of the NSRC will attend SC18 -Super Computing 2018 Planning Meeting, to provide technical assistance for the event that will be held in Dallas, Texas, United States.
May 6-9: Steve Huter, Dale Smith, Hervey Allen and Hans Kuhn of the NSRC will participate in the Internet2 Global Summit in San Diego, United States. NSRC will sponsor fellows for the meeting.
May 23-24:Philip Regnauld of the NSRC will teach the ICANN DNSSEC workshop in Helsinki, Finland.
May 22-26: NSRC instructor Philip Smith will participate in the BKNIX Peering Forum organized by the Thai Network Information Center Foundation - THNICF and will teach an Advanced BGP Workshop in Bangkok, Thailand.
April 16-17: NSRC personnel, Philip Smith, will be one of the instructors of the Pacific Research Platform- GEANT FIONA Workshop previous to the 2018 NORDUnet Conference in Copenhagen, Denmark.
April 23-24:NSRC will teach a DNS Workshop organized by ICANN and ARTEC. The workshop will take place in Madagascar.
April 23-27:NSRC instructor Philip Smith will teach CNDO Best Practices Tutorial during PITA 22nd AGM that will be held in Guam.
April 29-May 11:NSRC contractor Fanta Bouba was one of the instructors of AfNOG Workshops including the Linux Bootcamp and the Network Managament Workshop that will be held in conjunction with the AIS 2018- Africa Internet Summit, in Dakar Senegal.
March 26-29: Philip Smith and Joe Abley of the NSRC will teach a 3-day DNSSEC Workshop and will provide direct engineering assistance to the Kenya Network Information Center - KeNIC in Nairobi, Kenya.
March 12-23: NSRC staff and friends Hans Kuhn, and John Brewer, and Steve Song will attend IETF 101. Hans Kuhn will asssist with the meeting setup. John Brewer will participate in the Global Access to the Internet for All (gaia) Meeting, and Steve Song will participate in IETF 101 Plenary Session Technical Plenary: The Future of Internet Access. IETF 101 will be held in London, United Kingdom.
March 12-16: NSRC collaborators Alain Aina and Patrick Okui will teach a 2 day BGP and Peering Workshop prior to WACREN 2018. They will also attend WACREN 2018 Meeting that will be held in Lome, Togo.
March 5-7: NSRC will sponsor fellows of the USP and PREGINET to CENIC 2018 Meeting.
March 3-4: Hervey Allen of the NSRC, will be one of the instructors of the Pacific Research Platform (PRP) FIONA Workshop.
February 19-28: NSRC will teach or assist with workshops in Network Management and Monitoring, IPv4/IPv6 Routing , Security , Virtualisation & Cloud and Internet of Things & Wireless Sensor Networks as part of the APRICOT 2018 event to be held from February 19th to 28th in Nepal, Kathmandu. NSRC staff will also participate in APNIC 45 Meeting.
January 22-26: NSRC personnel will provide direct engineering assistance to Univen - University of Venda, in South Africa.
Jan 21-24: NSRC personnel, Steve Huter and Philip Smith will attend meetings during the PTC´18 to be held in Honolulu, Hawaii, United States.
January 15-19: Patrick Okui, Anna Saine, Dale Smith, and Hans Kuhn of the NSRC will be teaching a Campus Network Design and Operations Workshop hosted by TENET- The Tertiary Education and Research Network of South Africa. The workshop will be held in the University of Cape Town. NSRC staff will also provide TENET with direct engineering assistance at Walter Sisulu University in Mthatha, South Africa.
Activities Over the Past Year
December 4-8: NSRC personnel Hervey Allen and Phil Regnauld along with Eugene Adanzo of the University of Guam, will teach a Half Day Introduction to Linux Tutorial as well as a Virtualisation and Cloud Computing Workshop during PACNOG 21 that will be held at the Fa'onelua Convention Centre Building, along Vuna Road, Nuku'alofa, Tonga
November 27- December 12: The NSRC assisted engineers from the University of South Pacific in Suva, Fiji with topics related to Security, Virtualization.
November 6-17: NSRC pesonnel, Hervey Allen and Hans Kuhn will work as support for the Super Computing 2017 - SC17 meeting to be held in Denver, Colorado, United States.
November 6-10: NSRC contractors José Dominguez and Antonio Lobo will lead a workshop on Network Monitoring and Management during the WALC 2017 meeting to be held in San Salvador, El Salvador and hosted by the Universidad Tecnológica de El Salvador (UTEC).
October 29- November 3: NSRC personnel Hervey Allen, Patrick Okui will teach an Advanced Routing and BGP for NRENs Workshop in conjunction with the 2017 UbuntuNet-Connect conference that will be held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
October 23-27: In conjunction with the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers ICANN, and the Morocco National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency ANRT, the NSRC with Phil Regnauld will teach a DNS and Security Workshop that will be held in Rabat, Morocco.
October 4-6: Anna Sainne from NSRC will participate in the Grace Hopper Celebration that will be held in Orlando, Florida, United States.
September 17-19: Steve Huter attended ISOC 25 and the Internet Hall of Fame ceremony in Los Angeles, California, United States.
September 13-15:Alain Aina of NSRC is leading and teaching a DNSSEC workshop in cooperation with ICANN to engineers of the Comoro Islands located to the north-west of Madagascar. Aina has worked for NSRC, AfriNIC, WACREN, and volunteers with Internet Society, IETF and the ICANN Security and Stability Advisory Committee, in addition to working with numerous Internet Service Providers in West Africa for many years. Another goal of the meeting was to formalize adoption of DNSSEC into the .KM ccTLD with coordination by Ali Hadji Mmadi, Comore Telecom, and Yaovi Atohoun, ICANN. The workshop will be held in Moroni, Union of the Comoros.
August 29: Patrick Okui, Anna Secka, Khoudia Gueye and Phil Regnauld of the NSRC will participate in the launch ceremony of Senegal's Internet Exchange Point - SENIX that will take place in Dakar, Senegal.
August 21-22: Philip Smith of the NSRC will give presentations about the early days of LINX Internet Exchange Point, and the IXPs in Asia and in developing countries during LINX98. Philip will also teach a 3 Day BGP and Peering Workshop. LINX98 will be held in Manchester, United Kingdom.
August 7-8: Steve Huter of the NSRC will participate on the steering committee for the National Research Platform Workshop that will be hosted at Montana State University, in Bozeman, Montana.
July 24-August 3: NSRC in conjunction with the Research and Education Network for Uganda RENU organize a Campus Network Design and Operations Workshop. Dale Smith and Patrick Okui of the NSRC will teach the workshop and will also provide direct engineering assistance to the University of Kisubi in Uganda.
July 24-25: Jon Brewer of the NSRC will assist Asian Institute of Technology AIT with Point-to-Point setup, monitoring and measurement (TakNet). He will also give a talk at ThaiNOG on LoraWAN and Internet of Things that will be held in Bangkok, Thailand.
July 16-21: Hans Kuhn of the NSRC will attend the IETF 99 meeting that will be held in Prague, Czech Republic . Hans will assist with meeting setup and IETF NOC operations during the meeting.
