Uganda OnLine is an offshoot of Mukla -- one of the earliest pioneers of electronic networking in the East Africa region. As a service we focus on building low cost networking services, primarily for the benefit of groups or individuals in the areas of education, the health sector, agriculture and environment protection, human rights, small and medium (SME) size business associations and enterprises.

• On our Mukla Unix host, we support store and forward startup services using UUCP and Fidonet technology for community nodes at a number of upcountry sites for whom we provide a gateway to the Internet.
• We promote computer literacy and skills development for the youth through internships for university undergraduates and secondary schools. As a matter of fact, the bulk of our staff members are student volunteers from Makerere University.
• We promote the creation of local content on the Web and host several mailing lists on a variety of topics.

Our mission is to provide inexpensive access to information and related electronic network resources, facilitate computer literacy, and participate in the elimination of communication barriers such as high tariffs and restrictive regulations.

We are a registered non-for-profit business (limited by guarantee) for our legal existence.
