Advanced ccTLD Workshop Assessment and Planning Guide ===================================================== This assessment form is to help us determine what topics and direction to taken when we finalize a course outline for upcoming ccTLD workshops. We wish to customize the workshop topics to areas that will be useful to you. The more information you can give us in this assessment document, the better we will be able to do this. 1. SELF-ASSESSMENT ------------------ 1a. Describe a major challenge that you have faced over the last months or years in operating and developing the registry operation. Please include: * The policy and the technical aspects of the challenge. * Interested parties who were involved in the process. * Solutions, if any, you have deployed to solve the challenge(s). * Tools or training that were included in your planning process. The Major challenge that we are facing lately is growing up our ccTLd. This has lead us to reconsider various aspect of management including : * policy aspect : .TN ccTLD is stritely regulated : the registrant have to prove the relationship between him and the domain name (a lot of paperwork) physical persons l (not companies/ structures ) are allowed only to have a domain under .perso.tn generic domain names are not allowed * technical aspect : the provisionning plateform is not EPP compliant the pre-verification of domain name eligibility complicates the registration workflow the registration process is not fully online (we do not sell .TN domains online) no ticketing system because of fact that do not have a gret number of domain name registration (7 to 10 per day ) * Interested parties who were involved in the process : registrars and ISPs and our regulation authority * Solutions being deployed to solve the challenge(s) : we are now undergoing the last phase of policy improvement to make it less regulated and based on post vrification rather than preverivication. moreover a new provisionning platefrom is being under design and will support EPP and IDN and IPv6. *Tools or training that were included in the planning process: at a first stage we have planned a trainig to the registrars/ISPs to introduce the new policy and implemented work flow. also of a basin technical training on DNS. 1b. Describe the projects on which you are currently working to solve or deploy, and their importance (ranking). Please include: * Interested parties involved in the process. * Plans for new hardware or software. * Additional skills or training that would support your project. *we are now undergoing the last phase of policy improvement to make it less regulated and based on post vrification rather than preverivication. "very important" *new provisionning platefrom is being under design. "very important" *ticketing system."important" *DNSSEC. "important" 1c. Describe the major areas where you plan to spend resources (time, money) in the next two years and how important they are to your registry. Please include: * A timeline (within 6 months, within 2 years, ..). * Additional requirements (staff, tools, software, etc.). * How did these topics make your list. (scaling issue, customer demand, value add service etc.) * Probability of actual deployment. (not very likely, rather likely, very likely, unavoidable). * policy developpemnt/imporvement : unavoidable within 3 months and after landrush once a year * provisionning system: unavoidable within 6 months * tiketing system : very likely within 3 months * DNSSEC very likely within 6 months * IDNs : very likely within 6 months * fully online registration : unavoidable within one year all these are related to scaling issues. 2.
