KENET-NSRC Campus Network Design Workshop
The Kenya Education Network (KENET) and the Network Startup Resource Center (NSRC) worked together to teach a five-day, lab-based course on University and R&E Networking. The program emphasizes the importance of the campus network as the foundation in developing robust, high performance National Research and Education Networks (NRENs). This hands-on course addresses design methodologies, including physical cabling, switching architectures, routing, and network management.

Objectives
- Train University network engineering staff on how to develop a strategic design plan for their campus networks
- Learn to implement best practices in campus network design, with particular emphasis on layers 1 and 2
- Improve technical skills with university network personnel in operating their physical networks
- Strengthen the KENET technical community (human network) in developing KENET's cyberinfrastructure
