PacNOG 14: Campus Networking Workshop

Workshop Goals
- Train network engineering staff from universities in the Pacific Region on how to design, build and secure scalable and sustainable campus networks.
- Learn current best practices in designing and building hierarchical networks using layer 2 switches and layer 3 routers, including where to route and where to switch in campus networks
- Learn best practices and methodology for securing campus networks, including:
- Proper monitoring
- Proper services build-out
- Routing, switching and access control techniques with security in mind
- Strengthen the human network of the research and education community in developing national and regional cyberinfrastructure
Requirements
- Some Linux/UNIX experience
- Knowledge of TCP/IP protocols and layer 2 and layer 3 network basics
Recommended Software
- PuTTY SSH for Windows (SSH)
- PuTTY Secure Copy for Windows (SCP)
- Linux/UNIX and Mac OS already have SSH installed.
