Workshop Goals
- Train university network engineering staff on campus network design best practices
- Improve technical skills with university network personnel in operating their physical networks
- Learn how to use open source software to monitor availability and performance in your campus network.
- Develop a design methodology to facilitate successful participation in national and regional Research and Education Networks.
Requirements
- Some Linux or UNIX command line experience.
- Knowledge of Layer 2 and layer 3 Network basics (IP).
Required Equipment
- Participants must bring their own Ethernet or WiFi-capable laptops with an OS (Windows, Linux/UNIX, MacOS, etc.) capable of running an SSH client and a web browser.
Recommended Software
- SecureShell SSH Client
- PuTTY for Windows (SSH)
- Linux, UNIX (Mac OS) already have SSH installed. DO NOT USE PUTTY FOR LINUX OR MAC!
