Program description
Workshop Goals
This workshop is a two part event, designed for engineers and system staffs at ISPs and large networks, including academic networks, who are involved with network management, as well as those responsible for managing the DNS (Domain Name System) for their organization. Please review the Agenda to see the topics to be covered. Labs constitute about 60% of the course.
Goals
DNS:
- to secure DNS installations, and instrument them
- learn about DNS service monitoring, including latency
- to understand DNS Security (DNSSEC) extensions
Network Management
- learn about the principles of network management
- learn about network management protocols (SNMP)
- instrument your network equipment for monitoring
- deploy the tools to monitor and manage your infrastructure and services, including the DNS
Requirements
- A laptop with wireless capability.
- IPv4 addressing and general network concepts.
- Knowledge of UNIX and/or Linux.
