From: Charles Granieri 415-926-2844, Date: Tuesday, 17 May 1994 17:33:08 PST The Institute for High Energy Physics (IHEP) in Beijing, China was connected to the world-wide Internet today. The final step was accomplished by making a "virtual" connection between SLAC and FIX-West at NASA/Ames in Mt View. (FIX-West is the West Coast interconnection point for all of the major TCP/IP networks.) We would like to thank all individuals at IHEP, SLAC, ESnet, DoE HQ and elsewhere who worked for many months to make this historic connection possible.
