Here are the replies to your querries: >1)Please list the ISPs with external connectivity currently operating in >Ethiopia: ISP in ET: ========== ETHIO INTERNET -Link Type: 2Mbps uplink and 8Mbps downlink via satellite to backbone -Provider of Link: New Sky Satellite(NSS) -Bandwidth: 10 Mbps -Upstream ISP: NSS -POP location(s: NETHERLAND URL for the ISP: www.telecom.net.et >2)Do you know about any links to information about the academic networking >development? We are not aware of any academic links thus far, however, there are individual efforts to connect the academic sectors on a University WAN backbone. To date we don't know as to when this will be deployed for wider operation by the sector benefactors. >3)What do you see as the prospects for Internet growth in Ethiopia; >what would help it, and what are currently the major obstacles? The prospects for the INTERNET in Ethiopia are bright. It has beengloomy for long; however,we expect the sector to be deregulated and as soon as this done many prospective ISP operators, currently operating CYBERCAFEs awaiting for the regulation, will be readiy in the business.
