First a little background information. I work at SRI International in the Upper Atmospheric and Space Physics research group. On behalf of NSF, we operate the Sondrestrom radar, an incoherent scatter radar facility located in Kangerlusuuaq, Greenland. Our funding for this comes from upper atmospheric facilites portion of the ATM division of NSF. The class C network 192.101.148.0 was established around 1990. It is connected to the NASA Science Internet via a satellite link from NASA Goddard to Kangerlusuuaq, Greenland. The original intent was to provide ground based radar support in real time to NASA's International Solar Terrestrial Physics (ISTP) satellite based program. Funding for the link is procided by NASA. The stability of these nodes is uncertain at this time. While the connectivity is desireable, it is not clear that NASA will continue to maintain the link. NSF, however, may step in and establish an alternate link. Yadunath Zambre Research Physicist SRI International 333 Ravenswood Ave Menlo Park, CA 94306
