Recently, UOG was granted class B and designated by NIC to serve as the domain administrator for this region ( .GU ). We are working with other agencies in the Government of Guam to implement class B and .GU. UOG node has 500 accounts for faculty and staff. Currently students are not provided individual account but can utilize Internet by using Internet workstations set up at various labs and at the library. Our plan is to provide students with individual account in the comming semester. Guam Dept of Education and other governmental agencies will connect to Internet using UOG gateway early next year. UOG Internet provides all standard Internet features such as Email, gopher, ftp, telnet, wwww and limited Mosaic ( due to limited bandwidth). Internet users are also able to access our main librabry (RFK) via our Internet node. We hope that in the very near future we can use Internet and our fiber optic network for such applications as tele conference, video, multimedia, distance education, etc. Also our plan is to assist and to provide the service to Micronesian and Pacific region.
