ISP in GY Link Type Bandwidth Upstream ISP POP location ========= =========== =========== ================ ============== Solutions leased line 128K GTT Georgetown 2000 from GTT & East Coast Dem. Guyana Net leased line 128K GTT Georgetown from GTT Inter Net leased line 128K GTT Georgetown Works from GTT SDNP leased line 56K GTT Georgetown (Guyana) from GTT GT&T satellite 256K MCI Georgetown 2000 link Home pages for all can be found at www.sdnp.org.gy/netdir.html GTT has been expecting a T1 for a while (they were upgrading something this week) and the other ISPs have been trying to increase bandwidth. The other news is the removal of filtering by GTT following a change of policy by government. Actually the proxy server is still present but its use is optional. This removal of access (mainly to pornographic sites) has resulted in a marked rise in congestion especially after 4 pm. Some were saying it would allow faster access but the result is major access problems instead. :( Hopefully it will ease after a month or two. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Andrew Mancey Email to manceya@sdnp.org.gy Network/info specialist Phone (592-2) 75723 Sustainable Development Networking Programme (Guyana) http://www.sdnp.org.gy
