Message-ID: <000a01c05509$47168a20$8200000a@vaio.ispkenya.com> Greetings everybody, Last night, with the help of a few cokes and pizza, the Kenyan exchange point went live with four ISPs exchanging traffic. AfricaOnline, KenyaWeb(formerly Form-Net), SwiftGlobal and ISPKenya engineers stayed into the wee hours of the night and, with the guidance of Barry Greene (Cisco) who is in the country conducting an ISP/IXP seminar, were able to get the various routers speaking BGP and exchanging traffic. This is a milestone for the Internet in Kenya. Other ISPs are encouraged to get connected to the IXP. Details can be gotten from the ISP association secretariat Many thanks to all the individuals who have worked tirelessly to make this a possibility and especially to the Chairman of the ISP association, Richard Bell, who has remained consistent in moving things ahead to this point. Regards, Brian Longwe
