Message-ID: <000a01c05509$47168a20$8200000a@vaio.ispkenya.com> Greetings everybody, Last night, with the help of a few cokes and pizza, the Kenyan exchange point went live with four ISPs exchanging traffic. AfricaOnline, KenyaWeb(formerly Form-Net), SwiftGlobal and ISPKenya engineers stayed into the wee hours of the night and, with the guidance of Barry Greene (Cisco) who is in the country conducting an ISP/IXP seminar, were able to get the various routers speaking BGP and exchanging traffic. This is a milestone for the Internet in Kenya. Other ISPs are encouraged to get connected to the IXP. Details can be gotten from the ISP association secretariat <tespok@kenyaonline.com> Many thanks to all the individuals who have worked tirelessly to make this a possibility and especially to the Chairman of the ISP association, Richard Bell, who has remained consistent in moving things ahead to this point.
