It's a FirstClass(TM) BBS run by Jamie Zellerbach, E-mail:jamiezel@nwg.nectec.or.th, BBS:(662) 679-8380, Fax: (662) 679-8381, Voice: (662) 679-8382. A number of friends and NGOs are doing the same. A few people and businesses connect through the commercial Internet providers in Bangkok, INET(Mozart), KSC and IBM. Long distance charges to Bangkok are about $.60/min. in 1 minute units. The National Polytechnic Institute (NPI) has a setup that offers Internet E-mail. The last I heard, they were calling the US to exchange E-mail once a week. Sorry, I can't find Mr. Xeno's contact numbers at NPI. My understanding is that the Australian National University has been in contact with the Polytechnic with an initial goal of an E-mail exchange a few times daily. The contact at ANU is Mr. Rob Hurle. The Canadian NGO, IDRC, has been in touch with the Organization of Science, Technology and Environment (STENO) of the Prime Minister's Office. They held a seminar on Internet a few months ago. The contact at IDRC's Singapore office is Ms. Maria Ng. Email: MARIANGLEEHOON@idrc.org.sg, Fax: (65) 235-1849. The contact I've spoken to at STENO is Mr. Somphone Phanousith, Deputy Director of Cabinet, Fax: (856-21) 213472, Voice: (856-21) 213470 I've heard that the Ministry of Agriculture is also doing some sort of E-mail exchange. The UNDP in Vientiane has their LAN for UN agencies set up for E-mail through the UN system out of New York. They exchange mail a couple times a day.
