The local MONOPOLY telecommunications company recently launched "Worldwide Internet in Saint Lucia". We have been offering Internet email via UUCP for the past 3 years. Anyway all of the hosts with the "candw.lc" are hosts which Cable and Wireless is operating. Cable and Wireless is offering dial up PPP or SLIP accounts and offering the web, mail and news. Their service cost $55.00 for installation, and $81.00 for the first 20 hours in any month. Between 20 and 30 hours you pay $108.00 per month and between 30 and 40 hours you pay $135.00 per month. Anything above that is $2.70 per hour. In ADDITION to your monthly subscription fee you pay $0.05 per minute for every minute of connectivity. We have been trying to get a reasonable rate on a 64K leased lin for about a year and have not been able to. Initial quotes have been in the region of $5000.00 US doallars a month. All of the other prices which I quoted you are in our local currency EC dollars. One US dollar is equal to 2.72 EC dollars.
