The network is still under formation and is going to use the University of Skopje computer network as its basic infrastructure. In March of 1993 the IP number 193.203.1.0 was given to the network. By the end of the September the ISO 3166 code was presented to Macedonia and with that the code for its top-level domain (MK). Also in September, MARNET became a member of the CEE-NET initiative on its meeting in Vienna. In the beginning of October we became members of EARN, while our application to RARE is still pending. The project proposal for operationalization of the network is finished and presented for financing to: the government and other international organizations. This will also facilitate the choice of an IP service provider. A partial IP service is done through ARNES (the Academic and Research Network of Slovenia) and is restricted to the E-mail. We are also members of the DECnet network and the name of our host is NUBSK. There are two bulletin board servers: DEC notes and Usenet news. Also we have access to the system of technological and scientific information to both Slovenia and Macedonia. Full funding for the network is expected very soon.
