It provides nationwide boradband network that links government, academe and research institutions. It is currenyl being used in support of content, applications and services to improve the S&T capability of the country. PREGINET facilitates research, education,training, and information exchange. PREGINET is link to the international research and education networks through the Asia Pacific Advanced Network (APAN) and the Asian Internet Interconnection Initiatives (AI3). PREGINET conducts research and development in advanced networking technologies and apllications such as IPv6, Network Monitoring and Management, Network Applications and Multimedia over IP. PREGINET allows communities in areas such as agriculture, distance education, bioinformatics, networking technologies, telemedicine, disaster mitigation and earth monitoring, among others, to conduct activities over the network. To date, PREGINET has already established three (3) exchange points and twenty (20) regional access points across the country. With these exchange and access points in place, more than eighty(80) academe, research, and government institutions are now connected to the network.
