From: "Breitbart, R. (Prog. Officer)" Date: Thu, 16 Feb 1995 14:35:00 -0800 Re Jonathan Smith's enquiry about Internet connections in Pakistan forwarded to me by Pal Hajas: The Sustainable Development Network (SDN), a global UNDP project, has a project site in Pakistan which is providing internet access, e-mail and a number of other useful services. The e-mail address for further information would be . Our office started using e-mail in 1993, initially through a leased line from PakNet. After a short time of reasonably good service, difficulties started with frequent breakdowns of the line, over billing, time-outs, etc. We finally resorted to dial-up through Tymnet nodes in Singapore and London which in the end came out much more reliable and cheaper. However, this is only for e-mail. I have heard about some BBS providers in Lahore (BrainNet), but I am not certain whether they provide direct internet access. If somebody is interested I could find out their address. Regards Reinhard
