Main server is a Pentium with Solaris 2.1 on it, a second server runs Linux. We have 2 switched phone lines active at the moment, with 14400 modems on our end. I had an 3COM router for testing, now I'm working with an Eicon HSI/PC card as router but just until the end of this months, when my requested Cisco 2501 should arrive. Regarding services: we offer (or plan to...) full Internet access for commercial and non-EDU users. It's not yet everything up and running, but we are close to. Well... let's say it's coming up. There are a few university sites that are connected, almost all of them through leased lines until Bucharest, where from a 64 kbit line goes to Amsterdam. On the commercial side, the major player in the field is EuNet, with a central POP in Bucharest and 3-4 announced POPs in the major cities. Sprint is acting too, but for now nobody knows exactly what they are doing. France Telecom has an joint venture with RomTelecom, called RTNS (Romanian Telecoms Network Services) and they offer the framework that some banks are paying for to establish proprietary networks.
