The internet service offered by Securicom Consultants is based on the Fidonet Technology. This is actually a store and forward system. A computer at the office of Securicom Consultants acts as a gateway to other computers in Sierra Leone connected to it via a modem and phone line. To access the service. A computer is made to dial the gateway computer at Securicom's office. Email messages are then exchanged between these computers. Messages for the internet are automatically transferred to securicom's computer and messages waiting from the internet for that computer are automatically transferred to it. The whole connection between computers takes a couple of minutes. Messages are transferred to the internet via Baobab Communications gateway. This computer currently calls Securicom's Computer once a day to exchange messages. Currently Africana and Salonet conferences are supplied free of charge. Connection to the email service varies. However, a basic system costs $600. This includes a 14400 baud modem, installation and training. Sending messages costs Le250 ($0.36) per Kilobyte and receiving costs Le150 ($0.22) per Kilobyte. Hope the above answers your questions. Thanks for your enquiry.
