From: vanuamgr@pactok.peg.apc.org (vanuamgr) To: sghuter@nsrc.org Date: 24 Dec 96 08:41:49 +1000 > 1) A brief technical description of your current network We currently use a fidonet system, pactok, with wantok software developed by Rob Garnsey in Sydney. We are hoping to update to a tcp/ip system in early 1997, but still using twice daily dial-up to Sydney. This is because the local isp, Vanuatu telecom, charges too much for a small network like ours to afford. For your information, they charge a joining fee of US ~$100, a monthly fee of ~$30.00 and a per minute rate of ~30 cents. > 2) A brief technical description of the equipment/platform you are using > for your servers, routers, etc. We are using a 486 machine with windows 3.11 and a modem, that's all. We have purchased a pentium 166mhz with windows nt for our transition to a local tcp/ip system. > 3) Information about your pricing/costs of using your network. We have an annual subscription charge of US ~$250. There are no other costs. nick thieberger pactok, port vila, vanuatu
