One of the people at Nampula, Mozambique, has just moved to Northern Zambia, and uses UUCP to connect to frcs. The site in Mozambique is still very much there (ugccoop.frcs.alt.za), but now there is an additional DOS-based UUCP site in Zambia (norcom.frcs.alt.za). This is run by Brad Lester , and polls frcs once or twice per day, with successful transfers on average once every two days (terrible phone lines up there). There is a chance of TCP/IP connectivity in Zimbabwe via Europe, but don't hold your breath (I am trying to persuade some people there to use bandwidth on an old Russian satelite for Internet connectivity). There is a slight possibility that World Vision's Maputo office will get onto the net (they want to, head office in sunny California doesn't like the idea for some reason). Also Jacot is busy trying to get the university's computer connected via UUCP (also in Maputo). Doug Thompson will likely get a few UUCP sites up in Angola as soon as the "peace" dies down a bit, and it is safe to travel. It is probably worth contacting him for more info. The Canadian Public Health Associations fund an aids training project in sub-Saharan Africa. The first site (Harare, Zimbabwe) is up, using UUCP on Apple Mac machines. Contact wilson@satp.frcs.alt.za for more details. That's all that I have for now -- I'll let you know if there are any more startling developments. paul
