GARNET-AfNOG-NSRC Network Monitoring and Management Workshop

The Network Startup Resource Center (NSRC), the African Network Operators Group (AfNOG) and the Ghanaian Academic and Research Network (GARNET) are teaching a five-day Network Monitoring and Management and IP Addressing Workshop with a group of network engineers from universities throughout Ghana. The program includes a day of practical planning for IP Address Management at attendee institutions, 4 days of Network Monitoring and Management and several sessions on implementing BGP - all of these topics are to help continue with developing robust, high performance National Research and Education Networks (NRENs) in Ghana as GARNET begins to take form.

  • Train University network engineering staff on how to develop a comprehensive IP addressing plan
  • Learn to implement best practices in network monitoring and management of campus networks using open source software
  • Improve technical skills with university network personnel in operating their physical networks
  • Strengthen the GARNET technical community (human network) in developing GARNET's cyberinfrastructure
  • Develop a design methodology to facilitate successful participation in National and Regional Research and Education Networks.
