The second in a series of a weeklong hands-on workshop to create a fully functioning digital archives collection of colonial era archives from the National Archives of Sénégal.

Objectifs de l'atelier

• Establish workflow for digitization and cataloging between Archives du Sénégal and UCAD
• Modify interface for localization
• Present significant portion of a selected series in digital archives

Prérequis

• Series identified and described on collection development worksheets
• Knowledge of access issues for each collection
• Knowledge of archival description
• Knowledge of HTML/CSS
• Recommended knowledge of XSLT

Logiciels utilisés

• Batch renaming software: ​ReNamer
• PDF split/merging software: ​PDF Split & Merge
• Scanner capture software (Native to scanner)
• Image manipulation software (Adobe Photoshop, GIMP, or other)
• Adobe PDF creation software (Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, or PDFcreator)
• Digital Asset Management System: ​DSpace
  • DSpace is installed in a Ubuntu 12.04 environment
  • vi is used to edit DSpace and OS configuration files
• Dspace SAF Builder (for batch importing) ​SAFBuilder
